What have been the best moments in the 2021/22 PGA Tour so far?

What have been the best moments in the 2021/22 PGA Tour so far?

Beginning in September with the Fall Series and ending the following early August with the Wyndham Championship, the PGA Tour is arguably the premier circuit in pro golf. Although it is comprised of many individual events, the four majors take most of the headlines. These are made up of the Masters, the PGA Championship, the US Open and the Open Championship. When combined with all the other competitions scheduled on the tour, this helps explain its exalted status.

It also explains why the PGA Tour is so popular to bet on. With tournaments happening regularly throughout its yearly schedule, and plenty of big-name golfers to back, it is a real haven for sports bettors. The 2021/22 edition of this tour is well under way and has already thrown up some awesome moments. But which have been the best to date?

Scottie Scheffler wins 2022 Masters

Majors season is when the PGA Tour really comes alive and the Masters is the first of these iconic events to happen. April saw 2022’s edition completed as usual and a magical moment for top pro Scottie Scheffler. Holding off a late surge from Rory McIlroy, Scheffler put in a near flawless final Sunday round to bag his first ever Masters title.

Although this final round saw some great play from 2022’s champion, his birdie putt on the 14th at Augusta lives long in the memory. This was the latest in a line of PGA Tour victories for Scheffler in 2021/22 and he looks to be on for one of his best seasons ever on the pro circuit.

Mexican Open makes its tour debut

The Mexican Open made its PGA Tour debut in early May 2022. This was a great moment because it brought fresh life into the tour and another top-class event for fans to discover. In addition, it also gives this historic event the status it deserves on the world golf stage.

Taking place at the Club de Golf Mexico, Jon Rahm’s victory at the Mexican Open saw him clinch a purse of just over $7m. Rahm’s win in itself was also a nice moment on the tour this year. After winning the US Open in 2021, he looked set to explode as a new superstar talent in golf. Although this might not have quite happened yet, it was awesome to see him do so well in Mexico.

Viktor Hovland’s three birdies at World Wide Tech Championship

Heading back to the early stages of 2021/22’s PGA Tour, you have to single out Viktor Hovland’s stunning win at the World Wide Technology Championship in November. He put in a truly dominant display that tough competitors such as Justin Thomas could not get near.

His victory, though, was really set up with a string of three stunning birdies, which he sunk in the front nine. These birdies showed what talent the Norwegian has and what he can do when his putting game is on song. Another nice moment that Hovland’s eventual win delivered was the fact that he became the first repeat winner since this event began in 2007, having also won it in 2020.

CJ Cup win for McIlroy in October 2022

Rory McIlroy is a superstar name in the golfing world who not only competes on the PGA Tour but also the European Tour. When it comes to this year’s PGA Tour, one its finest moments so far must be this player’s amazing win at the CJ Cup in Las Vegas during October 2022.

This saw him overcome a huge nine shot deficit in his last two rounds to beat Collin Morikawa by only one shot! As this was the player’s 20th PGA win, it also saw him receive lifetime membership. Combined with his second-place Masters finish later in the year, 2022 has been pretty good for this golfer so far.

PGA Tour top moments in 2022

With headlines such as Greg Norman challenging PGA Tour ban threats, this is a pro golf circuit that always has lots to keep us interested. It is also a tour that has plenty of magical moments every year to entertain us. With three of the four majors still to come, it is fair to say that there should be even more amazing moments to remember by the time 2021/22’s tour finishes. For now, though, the examples we have looked at here showcase just what a fine season this has been. With the cream of the world’s top golfers and the world’s best courses for them to play on, this is not really a surprise.
