The NBA has announced the finalists for this year’s awards, with Giannis Antetokounmpo taking home three of them.

Hakeem Olajuwon, a Houston Rockets icon and Hall of Fame center, was one of the NBA’s most soft-spoken superstars. To the dismay of fellow Hall of Famer and San Antonio Spurs legend David Robinson, he understood how to convey a message.
As the Rockets prepared to play Robinson and the Spurs in the 1995 Western Conference Finals, they were aiming for back-to-back championships. It might have been Robinson’s greatest achievement, since he was voted the league’s MVP that season. Instead, Olajuwon made it his goal to humiliate The Admiral, and it developed into a nightmare.
During the 1994-95 season, David Robinson stole the NBA MVP Award from Hakeem Olajuwon.
When Michael Jordan announced his retirement from basketball in 1993, the NBA began a brief period of change. Jordan’s Chicago Bulls had won three championships in a row, but his decision to retire from the game allowed another club to take the title of “best in the league.”
Initially, it was Hakeem Olajuwon’s Rockets who took advantage of the situation.
During the 1993-94 season, Olajuwon was outstanding, winning his first MVP Award. During the regular season, he averaged 27.3 points, 11.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 3.7 blocks, and 1.6 steals, and he elevated his game to another level as the Rockets won their first championship in club history.
The next season, The Dream was just as fantastic. He scored 27.8 points per game on average, with 10.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 3.4 blocks, and 1.8 steals. The Admiral, on the other hand, was chosen by the people this time.
During Olajuwon’s MVP season, David Robinson won the scoring championship, and the next season, he averaged 27.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 3.2 blocks, and 1.7 steals. He was the undisputed star of a Spurs team that had the most wins in the NBA (62).
Robinson earned the prize that season, according to the statistics. For starters, he appeared in 81 games, compared to 72 for Olajuwon. Robinson also led the NBA in player efficiency rating (29.1), win shares (17.5), box plus-minus (9.2), and value over replacement player (value over replacement player) (8.7).
At least at first, Olajuwon seemed to agree with the voters. The modest Rockets star, on the other hand, was about to send a massive statement.
On the same night he was named MVP, Olajuwon dominated Robinson.
The Spurs received a lift in morale before Game 2 of the 1995 Western Conference Finals when Commissioner David Stern awarded Robinson with the MVP award.
Robinson praised God, his teammates, and the fans. He did, however, leave out one important person: Olajuwon. Although Rockets player Kenny Smith was irritated by the perceived insult, Robinson’s remark was not a problem for The Dream.
Smith told the Houston Chronicle, “I’m practically sitting next to him.” “David is receiving the prize just as the starting lineups are being announced. ‘Doesn’t that worry you?’ I said as he accepted the prize. ‘What?’ he exclaimed. ‘He didn’t mention your name,’ I replied. ‘No, Kenny, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, He is deserving of it. This year, he is the top player. ‘No issue…’
On the surface, Olajuwon seemed relaxed, but on the inside, he was preparing to wreak havoc on Robinson. The 12-time All-Star finished with a game-high 16 rebounds, four assists, three steals, and two blocks while scorching the Spurs star for 41 points. Robinson was completely taken aback by his superb performance, which featured a trademark Dream Shake. Following that, Olajuwon delivered one of the greatest comments in NBA history to Smith.
“Hakeem had crazy statistics at the conclusion of the game. I’ve already taken a seat on the bench. ‘Kenny, I’m heading to his home to collect my medal,’ he says as he glances over.
-From the Houston Chronicle’s Kenny Smith
Robinson, to his credit, scored 32 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. However, he was unable to stop Olajuwon, who led the Rockets to victory and a 2-0 series lead.
Robinson, as it turned out, was never able to put the Olajuwon jigsaw together.
As the Rockets returned to the NBA Finals, Hakeem blasted Robinson.

After exploding for 43 points in Game 3, the Spurs recovered to win the following two games and tie the series. Olajuwon shot only 9-for-24 in Game 4 after erupting for 43 points in Game 3. Robinson, on the other hand, was unable to contain the Rockets’ star.
In Game 5, the Dream put up 42 points, nine rebounds, eight assists, and five blocks in a dominating effort. Robinson’s humiliation was complete in Game 6. As Houston clinched the series at home, Olajuwon outscored The Admiral 39-17 while also grabbing 17 rebounds and collecting five blocks.
After sweeping the Orlando Magic in the NBA Finals, the Rockets won their second straight title. The annihilation of Robinson by Hakeem Olajuwon, on the other hand, continues to reverberate to this day.

Toni Kukoc boldly claims that without Michael Jordan, the Chicago Bulls would have beaten the back-to-back champion Houston Rockets.
