Mike Tyson, Terrell Owens Have Vastly Different Ideas on What Would Have Happened Had Social Media Existed in Their Prime

-

In a recent interview with Golf Digest, former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson weighed in on current NFL wide receiver Terrell Owens. Though Tyson is an avid boxing fan, he claims he doesn’t know much about football, But he’s seen Owens around and even played golf with him a few times. The two also have lunch together every so often to catch up. So, when the topic of Owens’ contentious relationship with the media came up, Tyson jumped in with his take on the matter. In his opinion, social media is largely to blame for Owens’ reputation as a malcontent.

Although athletes are often eager to get their message out there, many a tweet has been deleted or Instagram post taken down. That’s because doing so is often seen as a necessary evil. But what if athletes had social media accounts from the start of their careers? What if they could speak their mind at will? There would certainly be more athletes fighting with fans on Twitter, and some would even dole out advice that turned out to be pretty bizarre. Comedian Mike Tyson and Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens know what that would have been like, because they recently told Golf Digest what they would have tweeted during their primes.

Mike Tyson and Terrell Owens are candid. Both have spoken extensively during their Hall of Fame careers. How would things have changed if social media existed at the height of their careers? Both asked the question and got completely different answers.
