The “steve kerr net worth” is a question that has been asked many times. The Steve Kerr was the better player, but Jason Kidd was more successful.

Many players turn into teaching when they retire from athletics. This is evident in the Western Conference Finals of the NBA. Both Steve Kerr and Jason Kidd, the bench leaders for the Golden State Warriors and Dallas Mavericks, plied their craft on the court.

While both guys have shown their worth on the bench, watching them side by side begs the question: who was the greater NBA player, Steve Kerr or Jason Kidd? Let’s crack out the history books and dissect the situation.

Steve Kerr has won several NBA titles, but he has never packed the box score.

Championships are the ultimate measure of a player’s performance for certain sports fans. Steve Kerr had a stellar NBA career by that criterion.

Kerr was drafted in the second round by the Phoenix Suns after playing collegiate basketball at Arizona. He only stayed in the desert for a year before returning to Cleveland. The guard spent three seasons with the team before making a short stay at Orlando. Then everything changed in 1993.

Kerr, unsurprisingly, joined the Chicago Bulls. His Airness reappeared during the 1995-96 season, despite the fact that the club was missing Michael Jordan at the moment. Despite not starting, the Arizona alum averaged just over 20 minutes a night, hit a memorable shot in the 1997 NBA Finals, and won three titles.

With the exception of a short stint in Portland, the sharpshooter spent the rest of his playing career in San Antonio. In Texas, he’d win two more championships, giving him a total of five rings.

Despite all of this, Kerr was never more than a supporting player. He only started 30 games in 15 years in the NBA, averaging 6.0 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists a game. He was a good three-point shooter, however, completing 45.4 percent of his three-point tries, which is still the greatest three-point shooting percentage in NBA history.

Jason Kidd only had one ring, but he was a fantastic point guard.

Jason Kidd was the polar antithesis of Steve Kerr, whose championships belied a restricted skill set. Although he only won one NBA championship, the guard was one of the best players in the 1990s.

Kidd created a reputation for himself at Cal and was selected second overall by the Mavericks in 1994. He was named Rookie of the Year right away and quickly established himself as a serious playmaker on the professional level. The guard, though, pushed things to the next level after he joined the Suns.

In Arizona, the point guard increased his assist totals and developed into a scoring danger. That trend continued in New Jersey, where he helped the Nets become the Eastern Conference’s best team. Kidd and his teammates made it to back-to-back NBA Finals, but each times they fell short.

Kidd did, however, win that elusive NBA title after returning to Dallas in 2011. He subsequently returned to the New York City region, where he played for the Knicks for one last season before retiring.

In all, the guard played 19 seasons in the NBA. While he only won one championship, he was selected to 10 NBA All-Star games, six All-NBA teams, and, most recently, a spot on the league’s 75th anniversary team. For those who like numbers, he also averaged 12.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 8.7 assists a game throughout the course of his career. It’s worth mentioning, too, that those offensive stats are distorted by a couple of weak seasons towards the end of his career.

Jason Kidd was the better player, but Steve Kerr has been the superior coach thus far.

Jason Kidd had the stronger playing career, despite the disparity in titles. With all due respect to Steve Kerr, it’s difficult to give him a high ranking when he averaged 6.0 points a game. However, when it comes to coaching, the roles are flipped.

Kerr has a 429-200 record in eight seasons with the Warriors, including five NBA Finals appearances and three titles. Kidd, on the other side, has barely broken.500 in his tenure with the Nets, Bucks, and Mavericks (235-220).

However, it is worth mentioning that Kidd seems to have improved in Dallas. While you might argue that Luka Doncic made all the difference, he did seem to out-adjust Monty Williams as the Mavs defeated the Suns. While he still has a long way to go to overtake Kerr in the coaching race, it may not be as one-sided as it seems.
